Pre-School / Kindergarten (2.9 years (by Sept. 1) to 6 years)
Frequency: Five days a week
Schedule: [Morning Program: 8:45 am to 11:45 am], [Full day program: 8:45 am to 4:00 pm] academic year programs
Teacher ratio: 1:10 and 1:12 teacher/child ratio
Program: This richly prepared environment offers children the opportunity to develop at their own rate, expanding their knowledge from concrete, hands-on experiences to the next stage in their cognitive development, which involves more abstract thinking. The curriculum covers sensorial explorations, math, language, cultural subjects and both natural and physical sciences. Art, music, socialization and outdoor play are also integrated to make this a program that nurtures the whole child. In addition to the standard academic program,
DVMS children have the opportunity to attend the Outdoor Classroom and Movement Class each week. Outdoor Classroom is a fully staffed classroom offering art, science, building and dramatic play activities. The Movement Program offers age appropriate activities which encourage development of coordination, strength, motor planning and physical fitness.
Extended Care (2.9 years (by Sept. 1) to 6 years)
Frequency: Available Monday through Friday
Schedule: 8:00 am to 8:45 am and/or 11:45-1:30pm and 3:00-5:00pm
Program: This program offers extended care on a space available basis. It is designed to both compliment and augment the Montessori classroom with special emphasis on cultural, physical growth and creative development. Extended care is available only to enrolled students of DVMS.
